Job Stress


The US Department of Labor, employment standards administration act was implemented in 1993 to address "1 - the inability to work or perform regular daily activities due to serious health conditions, 2 - the lack of employment policies to accommodate working parents, which could force individuals to choose between job security and parenting, 3 - there is inadequate job security for employees who have serious health conditions that prevent them from working for temporary periods- (US Dept
             of Labor). This law was instrumental in supporting employees and ensuring job security. Often times the health problem was caused by the same workplace that would refuse to give the employee time off. This law helped in balancing the demands of the workplace. The law also promoted some stability for the employee.
