Contact the movie looks at science and faith in both, similar and different ways. Palmer Joss believes that science should involve the search for truth. Palmer Joss is a writer who is writing a book on how technology affects third world country. Ellie's character is a scientist who is in search of life outside this universe. Ellie's world is filled with scientific ways, thinking, and most importantly "facts": While Palmer, "a man of the cloth without the cloth" believes in religion and does not necessarily need hard evidence to believe in something.
Both science and religion deals with the search of truth but in many different ways. The biggest difference between science and religion is the number of questions that are unanswered about religion. In science, scientists can conduct various experiments to come to a truth about just about anything but not the same could be said for religion. Religion is a personal belief within a human and is different for everyone. Some find the truth by simply just ignoring other possibilities while other never finds the answers. Science has logical steps which will help you obtain an answer, it may not be the most conclusive of an answer but it's an answer. Religion keeps you guessing. Another big difference between science and religion is that science has specific questions, such as; is there life outside this universe? These questions may not have a definite answer today but scientists are conducting various experiments to come to a truth in time. Religion is different for everyone; everyone has different questions about religion and has different views on religion. Science and religion are similar because they both make us ask questions. Both science and religion makes us think and makes us search for the truth. In science truth is obtainable but in religion each must find his/her answers in their own selves. .
I for one have been searching for the "truths" in religion for years with no hard evidence in site.
