Education, A Catalyst for Success

"It is a sad thing to think of, but there is no doubt that Genius lasts longer than Beauty. That accounts for the fact that we all take such pains to over-educate ourselves.              - Edgar Allan Poe.
In today's highly competitive and constantly changing work environment, it has become increasingly imperative for an individual to take an active role in ensuring that they have the appropriate knowledge and skills to perform satisfactorily. As the world, and more importantly technology, is changing at an astounding rate, the skill that is required for an individual to be proficient is likewise changing. Education is the knowledge or dexterity developed by a learning process. This learning process is a transferable skill that is attributed to the future of our lives. It is the means by which essential life skills are acquired, which are instrumental in the opening of doors for an individual to achieve what they aspire. With the cost of living on the rise, the notion that one must hold down a decent job, in order to live a comprehensive lifestyle is realistic. A good education is a crucial contributor to a positive outlook on an individual's future.
The introduction of computers to the modern workplace has changed not only the way work is conducted but also the pace by which business moves. The speed of new development is such that training, which is a year old may already be obsolete, and as such companies are looking to hire individuals who have the most up to date expertise. Certain people do not push toward an education as their outlook, and establish their position in the workplace after high school. A diminutive number of people flourish at their duties, and climb the corporate hierarchy or ladder.
