Obesity in America

Nothing taste better than a big juicy cheeseburger and a side of french fries, but has anyone ever thought about what they are eating and what it does to their body? Nearly two out of three Americans are slightly overweight or obese, which is a fifty percent increase from a decade ago. More than 300,000 Americans will die this year, alone, from heart disease, diabetes, and other illnesses related to overweight and obesity. Obesity-related illness is the fastest-growing killer of Americans. With the growing rate of obesity and it accompanying severe health risks, people need to start eating healthy meals and taking better care of themselves.
The main cause and reason for obesity in America is due to unhealthy diets. Obesity has become a tremendous problem today and one reason is because families do not congregate together every night at home and eat good home-cooked meals together, as they used to do when obesity was not a vast problem. Instead, we are on the run every second of the day. So, on our way to work or on our way home, we settle for something more convenient, which happens to be McDonald's, Burger King, or another fast food restaurant whish does not care about our well being. So, the food that the people eat has been soaking in grease and oil; the amount of fat and calories they receive from eating at these places is a tremendous amount. It would be better to go home to grill a chicken breast, which does not require being a chef or cook all day.
Not only does eating healthy help reduce the risk of health problems and obesity but it also is a much better way of living. People who are overweight and larger do not tend to live life to its fullest. It is hard for obese people to go unnoticed and people tend to stare, which puts these people in uncomfortable position and is just another thing making live harder for them and something that average size people do not have to put up with.
