Military intervention I believe can bring some what of a peace into country which is torn apart by war. By military intervention there is a neutral group who are trying to bring peace into the nation. When military troops are sent they are trying to help disarm the fighting groups. Ultimately helping to make a compromise, help them hold elections, and to help appoint government officials who can carry on the duties sustain a good from of government. .
Military intervention is necessary when there is a legitimate reason. For example, mass killings, mass atrocities, or ethnic cleansing are to occur or are threatening to occur are legitimate reasons to intervene. If no one intervened in Germany when Hitler was in power, we wouldn't have any Jews today. Because of military intervening in Germany peoples lives were saved. I think as a human being if you see someone treated improperly you would try to help them. That is in our nature to help those who are in need of help. In Liberia I think some kind of intervention should have been done in the earlier stages. Because no one intervened there were 350,000 deaths in the 14 years of civil war. Also in the Democratic Republic of Congo there were three million people who were killed because of war. I think when we see any type of crimes against humanity someone should step up and put a stop to it. I think every human has somewhat of a moral value, and when you some one getting killed you have the tendency say something about it. .
One reason I believe that peacekeepers should be sent to countries in trouble is because of the danger of spillover. Spillover is an issue that can cause many problems. If the refuges move over to different surrounding countries around then that can cause a population problem in that country. We can see this problem in the Angolan civil war. In which the Angolans were spilling over to the neighboring country Congo.
