            In the last scene of Strangers on a Train, Guy is going to play a tennis match that he has to finish as soon as possible in order to go to Metcalf before sunset when, with help of darkness, Bruno intends to leave Guy's lighter on the island as evidence of guilt.
             While Guy is playing nervously his tennis match, Bruno, who has already arrived in Metcalf, is busy with an accident that has occurred with the lighter: it has fallen into a gutter, and not easily Bruno manages to pick it up. After the match, thanks to the Barbara's help, Guy can take a taxi without being stopped by the policemen that were waiting to arrest him. The two policemen discover where Guy is going even though they let him go to Metcalf because there will be other policemen waiting for him at the arrival station. In fact, they will follow him to the amusement park where already there is Bruno waiting in line to rent a boat to go to the island. The ticket salesman recognizes Bruno, but when he tries to indicate Bruno to the policemen, he is moving to the merry-go-round to lose himself in the crowd. For this reason, the policeman cannot understand who is the man indicated by the ticket salesman was. After that, Guy and Bruno begin fighting on the carousel that is accelerating out of control because the ride operator has been shot accidentally by a policeman. However, they are still fighting until the carousel crashes violently. Bruno, who lies there, is indicated by the tickets salesman as the man who had been on the island the night of the murder while Guy is telling to the police chief the story about the lighter. However, Bruno still denied is involvement in the affair until when, dieing, the police chief can see the lighter tight in his hand, evidence of his guilt. .
