Macbeth

) In the world we are living in, almost all of the people have ambitions and things that they wish to attain in their lives. Albert Einstein, although he wasn't good at all in school, had an ambition of becoming a scientist and he definitely achieved it by his work and his brilliance. Even in stories, people have ambitions and we know one of them and that is Jay Gatsby since his dream was obtaining Daisy but he failed to achieve that dream. Of course not all people achieve their ambitions but what we are sure of is that all people have ambitions. The question that asks itself here is "Are all ambitions lead to a positive or negative result?" It would be extremely wrong to generalize in this situation and say that since ambitions are a person's dreams then they lead to a positive result. This statement is not correct. Sometimes dreams and ambitions lead to negative results (whether in the society or a subset of the society). For example, if someone is a drug dealer and trades in illegal stuff then his dream is of course selling as much drugs as he can so that he could get more and more money probably becoming the richest drug dealer. His ambition is selling the drugs but is it ethical and would it lead to a positive result? The answer is NO because his actions will most probably bring his society to an end and so his actions are non-ethical and also lead to negative results. However, if there is a person who has an ambition of becoming a good scientist and to pursue knowledge, then his ambitions will probably lead to a good society since he will contribute with his knowledge to the society and the people living in that society. We saw in class the final result of a destructive dream and that is with Jay Gatsby and how he died at the end of the novel because his dream was destructive and not completed. An ambition is a line in life that a person wants to arrive to and somewhat surpass and so it is meant to lead to positive results.
