I must admit that I am a victim of nervous grumblings. The nervous grumblings that I seem to struggle with the most are "I don't have a big enough vocabulary to write well with", "I just can't seem to figure out what the teacher wants me to say in these essays", and "I just can't think of anything to say about any of those topics." Another grumbling that I may have is "I will write this paper later, I"ll have time.".
Nervous grumblings are problems that appear to be minor and easily fixed, but this is not the case. The first grumbling that I can relate with was that of not being able to project a great and vast vocabulary into my papers and essays. Every time I would try to write an important paper, it would come out sounding like I was in middle school with my juvenile vocabulary and which made me feel uneasy. After reading some of the other students papers in my class I would soon realize that I was not the only student writing in a juvenile fashion which made me feel comfortable as well as talking to my teacher and having her tell me that is was not the words I used as much it was the idea that counts.
The next familiar grumbling was not knowing what the teacher would want me to say in my essays because I often felt confused about the general purpose of essays. This problem would become very familiar to me in almost every other essay I wrote and I would worry about going off track in my essay and totally missing the point altogether. This grumbling would be solved by writing what I knew and later on discussing the general topic over with friends and even my teacher because after all it is my teacher who is grading it so why not ask her what she is looking for. .
Another common grumbling is that of running straight into a writers block head on and completely zoning out in terms of what exactly to write. I would often know what the essay should be on including the write idea, but the physical words to be written down would never seem to come to me.
