After Kossuth's death in Italy, his remains were transferred to Budapest for a proper burial. His life changed thousands of other lives, and Simon Bolivar, who was born 23 years before Kossuth, changed people in the exact same way. .
Simon Bolivar was one of South America's greatest generals. Bolivar was nicknamed the "The Liberator:" Simon Bolivar was born on July 24, 1783, in Caracas, Venezuela. His victories over the Spaniards won independence for Bolivia, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. In the very beginning of his life, Simon was struck with a great misfortune and loss; he lost both of his parents. However, immediately following his parent's death Simon inherited a family fortune. This fortune gave him a very strong start to his incredible life. As a young man, he left Caracas, Venezuela, a traveled through Europe. On his way back to Venezuela, Bolivar joined the group of patriots that seized his hometown, Caracas, in 1810 and declared independence from Spain. Bolivar made for Great Britain in hopes of finding aid, but he could only get a promise that Britain would remain neutral. When he finally made in back to Venezuela, and had a chance to take command of a patriot army, he did. Bolivar fought and recaptured his home of Caracas in 1813 from the Spaniards. Bolivar was forced to retreat from Venezuela to New Granada, who was also at war with Spain. He then took command of a Colombian army and gained control of Bogota in 1814. The Colombians lacked men and supplies, which eventually led to Bolivar having to flee to Jamaica. While in Haiti he quickly assembled a force that arrived back in Venezuela in the year1816, and acquired Angostura. This is where Bolivar first became a dictator. Bolivar returned into New Granada in 1819 with full force of a very strong army. He heroically overcame the Spanish in Boyar. This led to the liberation of the territory of Colombia from Spain.
