Cuban missile crisis

US action is necessary to remove Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba and regain the stability of US homeland security. .
             II. Alternatives .
             .
             A. Alternative 1 .
The first option that could be used in this situation is "the political course of action". Under this decision the US would attempt to openly approach Castro, Khruschev, and other US allies in a ploy to resolve the crisis diplomatically. With top US, Cuban, and Soviet officials present the US and allies could begin to ease the nuclear crisis and diplomatically disarm Cuba. .
Although peaceful and diplomatic, I feel that this alternative may not be effective. Soviets would make a case against the US about their nearby nuclear installments and since the US will not likely remove missiles, nor will the Soviets. In addition, US allies would likely not make a effective point against Soviet missile installments due to bias. Anyone else who the Soviets would be willing to lend an open ear to would not help the US in this matter. In turn, If this diplomatic attempt at disarmament was to work then the option of nuclear war would very easily be brought down from a boil and stability would be regained very easily. .
             .
             B. Alternative 2.
The second option for the US is to introduce a policy of open surveillance and begin to impose a naval blockade of all offensive weapons heading into Cuba. The advantages of this plan are much greater and more realistic. By creating a naval blockade the US would not be allowing weapons into Cuba without imposing offensive military warfare against Cuba or the Soviets. This situation really present the US with a chance to keep nuclear weapons out of Cuba, with as little confrontation as possible. In addition, the US would not be attacking Cubans or Soviets, so reaction for them could be more timely and thought out--The Soviets would not begin a nuclear war on the basis of a necessity of quick reactive policy due to opposition strike.
