             • Aaronson.

             • Martin.

             • Comrade Ogilvy.
             Big Brother,.
Big brother is a character that is lurking behind the scenes and at times on the centre stage, but always there as Big Brother is on the walls, coins stamps and banners. He is theoretically one of the founders of the party and the revolution and is significant as he influences the actions and even the thoughts of most of the characters. There where others that were believed to be the founders of the party and the revolution, these men were Rutherford, Aaronson and Jones, however their image in the eyes of the people was that of being traitors as they were found guilty of being counter revolutionaries and were arrested, and eventually wiped out. Another traitor or enemy of the state is Emmanuel Goldstein, he too was one of the original leaders of the revolution but the part exposed him as a traitor and forced him into exile. He is also believed to be the leader of the brotherhood, the party uses him as a scape goat for all that went wrong in Oceana. .
A character that would be on the same level as the ones I mentioned before, that is before they where found as being traitors would be Comrade Ogilvy, a character that did not actually exist except in the mind of Winston Smith, he was the perfect and was an example of how party members should be.
Martin is a servant and is one of the few characters that comes across as being a party member and then as a non-party member. His involvement in the story is small but still significant as he represents the dangerous life that the Goldstein followers lead. .
" It struck him that the man's whole life was playing a part, and that he felt it to be dangerous to drop his assumed personality even for a moment" PAGE 141.
Ministry of truth is a location within the London that handles the changing and correcting of all literature within Oceana.
A number of people that have minor to major roles in the book work here.
