             Firstly the disadvantages of corporatism must be examined. The main disadvantage of corporatism is that it gives political power to a group of people. This group of people of often tends to facilitate a large corporation. These corporations can control the system to attain results which are incompatible with the free market, for example Microsoft and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which prevents its customers from switching easily from Windows to another operating system. .
             An aspect of corporatism that is often overlooked or discredited is it's similarity to fascism. Dare I say it; the similarity resides in the fact that in the last century many governments held responsibility for guaranteeing the flow of material goods by private means after public confidence in the market's ability to do this buckled. Not particularly a disadvantage, however the irony is that corporatism somewhat represents the socialist ideology that has been dishonoured by most economic scholars in the last hundred years. .
             A situation whereby corporatism causes problems is the marketing or selling of a new superior product. When a company offers a product that is exceptionally better than its competitors, these competitors can hinder the sale of this incomparable product and thus prevent the product prevailing. In a capitalist free market there would be little to prevent this superior product from becoming dominant. This illustrates how greed within a capitalist system sees the customer buying products thus making profit more important than what it gives to society. Where by in a corporatist arena laws and provisions get passed by a corporation to intimidate or oppress other companies thus making profit. .
             In an ideal world, business corporations perform a valuable function, the concentration of capital and management expertise to make human labour more productive and efficient. Anything they tend to do that strays from this objective is usually bad.
