endangered species

But we don't realize that this affects us all in some way. For example the farmer of that corn crop will have to find an alternative solution for a pesticide. While he is finding that bugs will continue to eat all of his corn ,which will cause the supermarkets to have a delay in the corn supply. Not to mention that it will probably not be in very good condition. Which will make us not want to buy it. And this will cause the farmer to not have enough money to buy corn for the next year, and so on, and so on ,it is a continuous cycle all because of a small butterfly. .
The society knows not that much about the animals that are endangered, there was a poll taken in the classroom to see if anyone knew what a snail darter is and one out of about 25 people knew this. So for the information of the reader, (Www.Yahoo.com) "The snail darter is a small, bottom-dwelling percid fish rarely exceeding 3.4 inches in length (01). Percid, or perch-like, fish are characterized by an elongate, cylindrical body, ctenoid (rough-edged) scales, and spiny-rayed fins. The dorsal fin is divided into two separate fins: an anterior spinous and posterior soft-rayed fin. The general coloration of the snail darter is brown to brownish-gray with a trace of green above and mostly white below. Four dorsal saddles cross the back, with the most forward being centered under the anterior end of the spinous dorsal fin and the rearmost contacting the base of the caudal (tail) fin. These saddles fade down the sides. A black bar extends vertically beneath the eye which has an orange-yellow iris. The median fins are mostly clear with black patterning and some yellow while the paired fins vary from mostly clear to bright yellow-orange. When the snail darter was discovered in a tennessee river tributary in 1973 people would never even come close to guessing the problems it caused when the government wanted to build a dam across the Tennessee river, the environmentalists sued because it would destroy the only habitat that snail darters are found in.
