End/Conclude Response

The literary work by John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men, is a good example of a book that does not merely stop, but concludes. The book ties up all the loose ends and concludes the story well.
Through the book, there are many deaths, the reason of which are unanswered until it concludes. One example is the puppy that Lenny accidently killed. He didn't mean to, but as he petted it with his overly strong hands, the puppy dies. Lenny doesn't know his own strength and doesn't mean to kill. The reason for this death is answered as the novel concludes. The deaths that happen because of Lennie's strength lead up to the reason at the end for Lennie's eventual death.
Lennie and George had a wonderful dream to own their own farm and not just be the farm hands. The whole book talks about how this dream is their motivation for all they do and that someday they hope to achieve it. The dream, in the end, does not come to pass. The end of the book is not tragic, however. It showed that George dearly loved his friend Lennie and cared enough to send him to a happier place.
Of Mice and Men grabs you in to the story line and wont let you go until the end. As the book goes on, you draw the conclusion that Lennie will probably die, but there are many unanswered questions that are not fully understood until the end of the book.
