"A Christmas Memory"

             A Christmas Memory.
An Analysis of the Old Woman.

In the short-story, "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote, there was a young bo and his elderly cousin. They were good friends. the elderly cousin called the little boy Buddy in memory of her best friend, who did whe she was a child. People in the house where she lived yelled and screamed at her, "A child of seven! whiskey on his breath! are you out of your mind? feeding a child of seven! must be loony!", which sometimes made her cry. Why do they treat her that way? Maybe they treat her that way becausethe only friend she has is a seven year old boy who cannot take up for her. Although people make her cry, she is a kind and generous person. She gives the boy a dime every Saturday. She also bakes fruitcakes for Christmas and gives them to people who she has only met once. The elderly woman is in her sixties and has white hair. She is "still a child." Although she is old in age, her mind maybe younger than her age. There could be and advantage to that, maybe she rembers things better than people her age. During Christmas the boy and the woman makes gifts for each other because they could not afford to buy gifts. They entered many contests because they did not have much money. The money they did haave came from selling fruits and jelly and rounding up flowers for funerals and weddings.
