Why do I put myself through the trials and tribulations of dating? I think that I, and the rest of the general population, do it because of the heightened sense of happiness and self worth we feel when we are in a relationship with someone. Is it worth it though? I mean everything about your daily life changes when you become involved in a romantic relationship. Don't think so? Well let us see how the two different situations compare to each other.
When you are single, things are so much easier. It is very simple. The bottom line of single life is, you only have to worry about yourself. It's the age old "Looking out for #1" at its best. No one else's emotions are involved, only your own. This is a good thing because emotions are very tricky things. The fewer emotions, the better, some might say. You have the final say in all your decisions. As a single person, you don't really have someone swaying your mind one way or the other. Another word for single is available. This is so because you are available to go on a date with whomever you choose. Single people are always searching for that significant other. I know, when I am single, I am always on the lookout for a future ex-girlfriend. However there is a downside of being single. The lack of someone to spend time with causes us to get lonely. Being lonely cause us to be somewhat unhappy and discontent.
The similarities between being single and dating someone are few. As far as I can tell, there is only one similarity. In fact, it is also one of the differences. No matter which side of the page you are on, you still are allowed to have time for yourself. The place where this differs is in the amount of time that you have for yourself. If you are dating someone then you don't get as much time for yourself as you would if you were single. However, this is not always a bad thing. If you are by yourself all of the time, then you get lonely.
