Analysis of Burt Reynolds

.
I have seen other Burt Reynolds movies but the two I have mentioned above are my favourites.
What I believe made Burt Reynolds so popular is that in many of his movies he was playing facets of himself. The real Burt Reynolds was allowed to shine as he gave part of himself to each performance rather than becoming the character completely and loosing his identity. .
Though there were not a great number of outstanding performances in his movie career he was still able to endear himself to the movie going public and has a legion of fans worldwide. I think there are a combination of things that made Reynolds popular, To begin with he can be seen as someone who perseveres in life and when he gets knocked down he just gets right back up again. An example of this can be seen in his youth when he was a student at the Florida State University. He was attending the university on a football scholarship and had become an all star Halfback in the Southern Conference, It is even said he could go all the way and play football for the National Football League. Unfortunately he was struck down by tragedy as he suffered a knee injury in college, This meant he could not play as well as he had. He was also involved in a car accident shortly after he had signed a contract with the Baltimore Colts, Now the Indianapolis Colts, Which meant that he could not play football ever again. While others would have wallowed in self-pity and perhaps disappeared into obscurity Burt Reynolds switched from studying sports to studying drama. I admire him for doing this and I think it shows us his resilience.
He was able to adapt easily from one role to the next with an uncanny ability. .
I think that his movies were entertaining and exciting and from the early seventies to the mid eighties his career was booming. In this time he starred in such movies as "Hustle", "Smokey And The Bandit" and "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas".
