Becoming an Interior Designer

A little over a year ago, I began watching a show called "Trading Spaces." It was a show where neighbors decorated one room in each other's house in two days with only a thousand dollars and the help of an interior designer. As I watched the show, I saw how much fun the designers and neighbors had and all the creativity that went into the job. My favorite thing was to see the end result; the fact that they turned an ugly and boring room into something so incredible was fascinating to me. I started to think to myself, wouldn't it be great to be on a show like that? That same year I took housing and interior design at school. It quickly became one of my favorite classes. From that moment on I knew that I wanted to become an interior designer.
Before I can become an interior designer I need go to a good college. I plan on going to the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Since the University of Arkansas Fort Smith does not have an interior design program, I plan on only going there for two years to get my Associates of Arts Degree. During my first year, I'm taking the basic classes like English, math, science, and history so I can get the feel of what college is like. In my second year I want to take class that I think I will need not only in getting my Associates Degree, but also in my goal of becoming an interior designer. After I get my degree I plan on transferring to the University of Arkansas Fayetteville. .
At the University of Arkansas Fayetteville I plan on going to Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food & Life Sciences to major in interior design and get my Bachelor of Interior Design. There I plan on taking all the necessary classes I need to get my degree. Because the University of Arkansas Fayetteville is away from home I will live in an apartment and get job. I want a job that will allow me to go to school full time. Hopefully I can get into the college's work-study hourly jobs and even an internship.
