the cuban son

The difference in these search engines was that they had a few sites that the other search engines, such as www.altavista.com, www.37.com, www.botbot.com, www.google.com, and www.megaspider.com, did not. These select sites on the successful search engines were informative in nature as opposed to the commercial sites which were otherwise returned. The commercial websites consisted mainly of advertisements and reviews on musicians and contained almost no facts at all. However, these types of sites were useful only if they employed links to sound clips so one could sample the music of the artist.
The most accurate website I found in my search came from the MSN search engine and was titled "Musical Atlas of Cuba: History."" It became apparent to me that this website was solely for educational purposes after I read the website address - http://www.pbs.org/buenavista/music/timeline.html. This clued me in to the fact that it was the website for the educational television station PBS, which I quickly confirmed after a quick investigation. The information given on this site is specific to development of music in Cuba from the 1500's to present day and is shown through a series of timelines and definitions. According to the timeline, the Cuban son dates back to the 1570's when the first son was written. Originating in the province of Santiago de Cuba it was called "Son de la Má Teodora."" From that song the son would grow to be the most popular genre of music in Cuba by the 1920's, when "Trio Matamoros- brought it to Havana. Characterizing this genre was limited to the fact that it would originate in the province of Santiago de Cuba, and its performance style of keeping a syncopated bass rhythm that preceded the downbeat. This syncopated "bass rhythm pulse- (Musical) would lay the foundation for future Cuban music, including its most internationally-known salsa (Musical). Another website found came off the lycos search engine and is named "Sonidos de las Américas: Cuba - Sources in Cuban Music.
