Elizabeth wanted to try to make her people happy and cared about what they felt. She loved her people and did not care of her own self. .
             Mary Stuart, Princess of France and Queen of Scotland, was Henry VIII's niece and she wanted to become Queen of England. As a war between the Scots and France approached over a dispute, the Scots asked England for help. If the French army won, they would attack England and make Mary the Queen of England. The Scots sought help from England, but Elizabeth, who already knew that her throne was at stake, refused to help because she did not want war. Cecil threatened to resign if Elizabeth did not send aid to the Scots. After some convincing, Elizabeth I sent aid to the Scots. .
             The French lost and called upon a treaty. Mary Stuart's French husband died and the French, who honored Elizabeth I, no longer helped Mary Stuart. Countries all around acknowledged Elizabeth I and money in the treasury began to increase. Everyone wanted Elizabeth to get married and have a husband to help rule England. Many Kings and royal men came to her to ask for her hand in marriage. Elizabeth did not want to marry but in order to keep England safe, she told everyone that perhaps she would marry a man.
