(Gyatso 50) No matter what circumstance he was faced with his want for peace only got stronger with age.
             After the Dalai Lama realized his country was far from peace he began to spread the word of peace in hopes of world aid. During this time he wrote over 35 books on various peace topics. Also during his peace struggle he visited over thirty world leaders. During his time in power he has met with three American Presidents including Bush, and Clinton. Not only has this but he received over 20 honorary degrees in ranging topics, from peace to oriental studies. His wisdom is revered by all, yet he shows no signs of pride, only despair for his nation in arms. "I am a simple Buddhist monk no more no less." (Tibet) During his travels of peace he has seen over 40 countries and met with many other dignitaries and foreign ministers around the world. He is trying to find some simple resolution to a conflict that will never be won by force, only by sheer good will. All of this is highlighted by his acceptance of the Nobel peace prize in 1989 where he spoke out for the oppressed everywhere. "I pray for all of us, oppressor and friend, that together we succeed in building a better world through human under-standing and love, and that in doing so we may reduce the pain and suffering of all sentient beings." (Gyatso 60) All of these acts of peace have had a great influence on peace all over the world.
             Tenzin Gyatso has made an effort for peace ever since becoming the leader of Tibet all of which was influenced by his mentor and religious figurehead Buddha. "I believe all religions pursue the same goals, that of cultivating human goodness and bringing happiness to all human beings.
