Genetically modified foods are a very new thing in this world and many people do not have knowledge of how they are produced. In the United States labeling is an optional decision made by the specific firm. In some other countries the regulatory rules are more strict and impose laws mandating labeling. Although the government imposing laws and rules on private business can hurt the business and sometimes the consumer, some regulation should be done here. The company may have to spend some extra money but, the increase in consumer confidence may be beneficial. In this case the government mandating labeling could be advantageous and represents how the governmental environment can have a positive affect on businesses.
