Come the wedding day, the groom visits the bride's house. The wedding ceremony starts with the ritual of worshipping the ancestors. Here, the couple bows three times at the ancestral altar. Next tea is served by the couple to the brides parents who will in turn present the couple with a red packet, "ang pow"". Tea is then served to the elder siblings and close elder relatives of the bride. The couple bow while serving tea as a sign of gratitude and respect. The couple now departs for the groom's house. When the bride has crossed the threshold of the groom's house she becomes part of the grooms family. The ancestor worship and tea serving ceremonies are performed again. When this ceremony is finished, the couple is considered married by traditional Chinese customs. .
The Greek Orthodox Church has many traditions, many which surround funeral services. Although it doesn't work out this way, it is very important to Greeks to be buried in their homeland by their close family. At the deceased's funeral services, mourners are expected to wear dark colors such as navy blue or black. If mourners choose to visit the grieving family before the service, tradition requires that they say, "May you have an abundant life"", or "May their memory be eternal"". During the actual services, mourners must stand at the appropriate times and pay respect to the family. At funerals the casket is generally kept open. As a result, both members and non-members of the Greek Orthodox faith are expected to bow in front of the casket and kiss the cross in which rests in the deceased's chest. Following the church service, the deceased is brought to the cemetery. Here, each mourner places a flower on the casket as it is lowered into the grave. Afterward, family and friends may head to a restaurant, church hall or private home for what is customarily called a "mercy meal"". A memorial service for the deceased is always held on the Sunday closest to the 40-day mark after death.
