We as a society could care less about the politics of other countries, the racial interest, the fights for land, religion or even independence. Our government leaves us alone to go about everyday life and to manage our own way of life. Other countries have where the government controls, the housing, the wages, the employment, the religion and even the family. But we don't care because we are Americans who have forgotten what our country went through in order to establish these rights and comfortable way of living. All other countries only dream of having the economic, social, governmental stability that we do. This probable answers the question, "why don't they like us?", as quoted so eloquently by Professor Hoffman. The fact of the matter is, there is not one single item which can be pin-pointed for them not liking us. Instead it is a combination of many things. It could be social, economical, political and even or religious, just to name a few.
Our social freedoms are seen by other countries as immoral and weak. In their eyes we are seen as infidels and a great evil. In our society inter ratio marriages, homesexualities, divorces, drinking, same sex marriages are allowed. As well as, women working, women right to vote and to hold public office, and the education of women. All of which is against their social beliefs. To them our social structure is our weakness and our down fall. Why? Because migrants of different religion, race or color are allowed to live and work here. Because pornography can be sold. Because prostitutes are allowed to be on our streets. Because we give accused criminal a right to a fair trial. And as bestowed by our Constitution everyone has the right to voice their opinion. Our social structure threatens their beliefs and society. Because the most powerful country in the world can unwillingly and unknowingly impose our will on them which in turn undermines their way of life.
