Anyone with the right chemicals and the right chemistry recipe can make MDMA. Most ecstasy comes in a pill form much like that of aspirin. Many of these are designer drugs with an imprint on each pill designating the type of pill. There are a number of street names for MDMA. Some include: love drug, adam, x, e, ecstasy, rolls, and pills.
Ecstasy isn't a new drug as far as its discovery is concerned. MDMA was first synthesized by Merck pharmaceuticals in 1912 and then patented in 1914. The first accounts of its psycho activity were not until the 1970's. The drug MDMA became popular in the late 70's and early 80's and wasn't made illegal in 1985. Though the drug was in circulation at this time it didn't become very popular until the early to mid nineties. The drug is now very easy to get and very popular, being the drug of choice for many people in the 16 to 26 year old range. This drug has also been labeled the "generation x" drug because of the wide use of it by the age range I mentioned above.
There are many effects that ecstasy has on society in general and on people social lives. The drug can put you in a position where you say or do something that you regret later, much like alcohol. The drug can also make day-to-day life seem boring when not on MDMA. Taking MDMA can lead to depression and mental addiction. These effects are very important, but what is probably more important is its effects on the body.
What's most important about understanding ecstasy is knowing how it gets you high. The high generally takes a half hour to and hour to set it. The initial peak is very strong and it lasts for about an hour after that it plateaus and then at about 3 to 4 hours after eating a pill you will begin to have a low. The after effects last for up to another 6 hours, where you can still notice a difference from everyday life. There is a hangover from taking ecstasy. For some people the hangover last for up to a week others a day or even a couple hours the next morning.
