Lord Of The Flies

The boys cried as they sat quietly, slowly traveling towards the cruiser. They believed that everything was all right; they believed they were safe and that they were on they're way home. As they boarded the cruiser no one spoke. An officer in white counted the boys as he directed them where to go. Six boys rested in each room. They each rested on a mattress, and soon they succumbed to a heavy sleep. .
A bright red light and a high squealing sound woke the boys. They heard feet shuffling and mumbled voices outside they're rooms. A head peaked behind the door and told them to stay put. They ignored the order, and ran to the deck. .
The hole in the side of the ship caused it to slowly tilt and begin to sink over a period of minutes. The atmosphere was chaos, but unfazed the boys seated themselves in a few lifeboats. .
They drifted now, and in the distance along the horizon they could see land. They gravitated to it, slowly. In the dark they landed on a beach. They slept. In the morning they awoke to voices. "áMate a la bestia! áCorte su garganta! áDerrame su sangre!- Too disoriented to understand, they stood confused. .
A group of thin figures advanced upon them, with painted faces and hair in their eyes. They prodded the boys with spears hardened by fire. .
A thin boy stood, staring into the darkness of the mouth. The head with fair hair sat on a stick, sharpened at both ends. The face blankly stared at the boy. And next to the head with fair hair was a head with red hair. And next to the head with red hair were two heads that looked exactly alike. The heads continued down in a line, each resting on a stick sharpened at both ends, each head buzzing with flies.
In the novel The Lord of the Flies, one of William Golding's themes is that human beings are inherently evil. .
Lately, we have seen events that have seem to prove the theme that human beings are inherently evil, such as the war in the Middle East, the September 11th attacks and other terrorist violence.
