The use of illegal narcotics in the United States has been a big problem and is only getting worse year after year. Drug cartels grow and then ship drugs into the United States through several different ways. The Ramon-Arellano Felix cartel, also known as the Tijuana Cartel and AFO (Arellano Felix Organization) is a major source of illegal narcotics for the United States for the past 13 years. The Tijuana Cartel is a multi-million dollar organization that has used many different techniques to have their drugs reach the other side of the border. The Tijuana Cartel has been through their ups and downs; however, they have still managed to be the most successful drug cartel in Mexico. Evading police on both sides of the border, Ramon and Benjamin Arellano the leaders of the Tijuana Cartel, also know as the brains and brawns of the operation have recently been taken off the streets. The AFO is a very dangerous and powerful drug cartel that is responsible for most the drugs imported into San Diego and something should definitely be done.
The Arellano-Felix Cartel is consisted of seven brother and four sisters. They inherited the organization in 1989 when Miguel Angel Felix, the former leader of the cartel, was arrested for his involvement in the murder of DEA Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena (Caldwell 1). His kingdom was then divided into the Sinaloa cartel and the Tijuana cartel, where the Arellanos brothers took over the Tijuana operation (A Chronology of crime, 1). One of the Cartel's leaders, Ramon Arellano was recently on the FBI's 10 most wanted list. Ramon and his brother Benjamin had a reward out for their capture of two million dollars. Benjamin Arellano is the man behind the organization. In other words he is the one that makes all the decisions. Some of the decisions include how to transport drugs across the border, how to assassinate a rival drug cartel leader, and what they should spend with the money they have made.
