The Films of Charles and Ray E

The film was a very interesting thing to watch. Charles and Ray Eames" furniture and home were definitely attractive to look at. It was also very cool that their development in the curving of plywood assisted in the war. Their toy trains were another inviting thing to look at and watch move. The films that I viewed in class had a different impact each time I watched them. All of them, as individual films, went from on end of the spectrum to the next. .
The first time I viewed all of the films I just kept thinking how strange all of them were and why were we watching them. It seemed to take quite a while to get through them all. I still do not know exactly why watched these short films besides the fact that it was a kind of modern art thing to do at the time. All I know is that the second time around some of it made more sense and I enjoyed it more. It also did not seem to take as long to view all of the films. .
The first film "Toccata for Toy Trains" was my favorite. This is because of the music and the fantastic feeling I get when seeing such beautiful and intricate toys work. The way that the music complimented every move and mod of the film was wonderful. When the scenery changed so did the music. The music also sped up and slowed down with the trains, and the music was different for each train. The use of entrances and exits was very nice, as it was pointed out in class. .
The second film "House" was filled with beautiful images. It was interesting that the entire short film was made up of still photographs. It seemed a bit long now and then but overall I enjoyed it. I love looking at houses, so this was quite nice to watch. It showed a lot of the actual house, the surroundings of the house and the inner workings of the house. We saw the furniture inside and the structure of the outside. We also viewed the flowers and the trees in and around the house. The most interesting things that were included in the photographs of the house were those of the table settings and the common everyday things that the Eames" used.
