Growing up and going to school in the age of the computer, I have seen first hand many similarities and differences between the way men and women react to and how they use new technology. This essay will take a look at how five relatively new technologies which are used by men and women, the computer, the internet, gaming systems, the cell phone, and digital audio/television. Even though new technology has become very easy to use, many women tend to be more fearful when it comes to diving right in.
The computer is arguably one of the greatest if not the greatest inventions of all time, it is used by many people for lots of reasons, but it's amazing how and what the different genders use it for. Everyone use's the computer for basic things such as typing and checking email but there are lots of other things they are and can be used for. Guys tend to use the computer for playing games, to them it is seen as more of a toy, and women usually look at it as a tool for learning and or improving skills. .
One possible reason that the computer may have more interest for guys is the reason that it as seen as a machine and math type tool. Machines and math has always appealed more to guys and the computer fits right in that category. But still, the computer continues to gain popularity from everyone and we are now seeing it in practically every household in this country.
Many like to classify the internet as a part of the computer, but I think this invention is so great it's deserving of its own recognition. Men and women tend to use the internet in the same way weather it be research, working, typing, or communication. There is practically something for everyone on the internet which makes it so great. The internet is so easy to use and now there are millions of webpage's that cover every single topic and one of the greatest parts about it is anybody can easily contribute. .
Video games and systems have been around for quite a while now and they have always been more of a guy's thing.
