Lenin was responsible for the outbreak of revolution in October 1917.
During the month of October, the Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd. They had completed a coup against the ever-unpopular capitalist government. Many say that there were many instances of chance in the coup, there was also strong influence of key individuals including Lenin. Although he was a strong influence within the revolution, he wasn't solely responsible for the outbreak of revolution.
In mid April Lenin had arrived in Petrograd, Lenin had been exiled for most of his life, he was given a free passage to Russia by the Germans, the Germans did this because they thought that he was a spy and this would weaken Russia.
When lenis had arrived he produced the April thesis, which listed 10 points that were all against the provisional government, Lenin had rejected the idea of the Provisional Government. These 10 points included the immediate end to the war, support for the provisional government would stop and the imperialist government would cease to exist.
This thesis attacked the Provisional Government, however the Provisional government was going to be weak when it first started, this would be because the Russian people distrusted them. This showed the Russian people that Lenin was on their side and was in touch with them. This was one of the catalysts to revolution in November. .
Lenin wrote The state and Revolution - within it he explained the Marxist doctrine of the need to completely dismember the bourgeois state before a proletarian could be constructed, however this book was not published until after the revolution in 1918, as with many other pieces of his work. Lenin had created the foundations to begin a revolution, however Lenin had created the slogan "Peace Bread Land", which nearly everyone was saying in the streets in Russia. Although his written work was published after the revolution these slogans showed how practical the Russian people were, Lenin knew this and used it to his advantage.
