Othello: Movie or Book

Most of the time when you read a book, and then go see the movie there is always something that seems not to fit. However Othello seemed to follow the book very well, setting and characters where well thought out. When I read the book, I saw the images that we always see of Venice around that time, with its canals, buildings, and people. When they made the movie everything seemed to fit very well, nothing really caught me as off. The way that the castle was laid out was very easy to follow and understand where people where. I feel that if gave you a good sense of clarification on all that took place there. One scene where I fell the setting really brought out the emotions of the play was when Othello and Iago where on top of the castle planning to kill Cassio and Desdamona. It just really seemed to fit nicely with the wind and the background, for what was taking place.
I really feel that all of the characters where cast excellently, their expressions, and even there voices fit their parts perfectly. Such as Iago, he was basically what I had imagined while reading, his voice and the way he spoke was perfect for the con man he played. The only character that some what confused and surprised me was Bianca. While I was reading I would never have figured she was black, she fit the part very well thought. The close-ups of Iago I fell where there to let you in on all of his thoughts that you would nat have known other wise. I feel that the first cole-up was the best, it basically set the tone for his character and what he was going to do.
I feel that the arrangement that was used in the video was a better way of opening the movie. It seemed to be a little easier to follow and make sense of what was happening. I personally did not like the chess pieces, I felt that it was a little too much. Why would Iago carry three chess pieces around with him, it makes no sense. It also seems to interrupt the flow of the movie.
