The solar system consists of an average star we call the Sun, the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. It also includes the moons of these planets. The sun is located in the centre of the solar system surrounded by the other planets and their moons. These planets and moons revolve around the sun in a circular orbits .The whole solar system together with the stars is called the Milky Way.

Venus is the sixth largest planet in the solar system. It is the second planet from the Sun at a distance of 108,208,930 km. Venus is named after a Greek goddess of love and beauty. A Venusian day is 243 Earth days and its year is 225 Venusian days long. Venus has an average surface temperature of about 482°C. This high temperature is mostly due to its atmosphere that has large amounts of carbon dioxide. Venus has no natural satellites. Venus is usually visible to the naked eye. Sometimes it is referred to as the "morning star" or the "evening star" as it is by far the brightest star in the sky. Unlike other planets, Venus rotates from east to west.
