             During World War II, Sinatra was exempted from the service because of a punctured eardrum. He did regret not being physically able to serve in his country but he gave back and served in his own way. Not going to war did give him the chance to marry his New Jersey sweetheart Nancy. Frank and Nancy were married on February 4, 1939. The couple had three children; their oldest daughter Nancy was born on June 8, 1940, Frank Jr. was born on January 10, 1943, and Christina Sinatra (aka Tina) was born on June 20, 1948. In October 1951 Frank and his wife Nancy, of 11 years, agreed to a divorce. Nancy stated that Frank was " Very Ill-tempered and quite the alcoholic". After Nancy, Frank had many other love affairs and even three more wives". The up and down love affair/ marriage with actress, Ava Gardner ended in divorce in 1957. Sinatra the bachelor was back and he pursued such Hollywood sex symbols as Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Garland, and Lauren Bacall. He ended up marrying the little known actress Mia Farrow in 1966. They divorced in 1968 and in 1976 Sinatra married his fourth and final wife, Barbara Jane Blakely Marx, Zeppo Marx's widow. Through all of Frank's many marriages and love affairs he always said that "The love of his life was still and forever more his first wife, Nancy". .

             In 1939 Frank's musical career was off to a good start. His first hit song was "All or Nothing at all," recorded with the Harry James Orchestra. Frank then went solo producing many songs and albums. In 1950, rough times began for Frank when his vocal cords hemorrhaged. At age 37: Universal, CBS-TU, Columbia Records and even his agent dropped him. After meeting up with actress Ava Gardner, Franks career took a turn for the better. Ava was helping Frank get huge parts in many films. In 1953, Sinatra's musical career was reborn when signing with Capitol Records. Frank's years with Capital Records would end up being his best of his career.
