" Have you heard this before? This is the second amendment out of the constitution. It states that we the people of The United States of America have the right to own a firearm. Recently, our government has been taking the necessary steps to abolish this amendment. Owning a gun is a right, not a privilege. We as citizens have to protect the second amendment so we can protect ourselves if necessary.
You can't take away all the guns. Every gun in the country can not be tracked down. The amount of money it will take to go door to door collecting guns; it could be spent on lowering all types of crime. There are a lot of people who won't give up their guns. What will happen to these people? Will they be imprisoned because they want to be free? It is possible that this could result in another civil war. There are a lot of people who live on the streets who carry a pistol in their pockets. How will these gun owners be found if they don't even have a home?.
Aren't drugs banned? Your normal citizen doesn't have drugs, but bad people do. If guns are taken away, only the good people won't have them. The bad people will then be able to commit crimes more easily. In the event that this were to happen, the defendant won't be able to defend his or herself, but the criminal would have the advantage with the gun. There will still be underground gun makers and dealers distributing guns to the public just like with the illegal drugs of today.
Did you ever think of how you would defend yourself if our country was invaded in a war? If a war is fought here, the only protection we can count on is our military. They can't defend this country forever. In the American Revolution, the colonists had to defend themselves from the British. What if our military turned tyrant? We would be forced to defend our lives and homes. We couldn't possibly fight against a great force without guns.
In conclusion, it is the right of every United States citizen to own a firearm.
