             The conquest of Latin America was out of greed and the search for power and fame. Many civilizations were nearly or completely destroyed due to the European search for gold and other riches.
             It began with Columbus and his search for a quick eastern water route to the Indies, this in turn, would provide a faster more profitable way to trade, but instead he stumbled into a whole different world, aNew World,? that he knew nothing about. This ignorance and lust for riches would lead to mass destruction and would eradicate the native peoples that inhabited the country of Haiti by working some to death and taking others as slaves to sell for money. .
             In 1521 Hernan Cortes, a Spanish conquistador, destroyed one of the most powerful and advanced Mezo-American civilizations known to man, the Aztecs. When Cortes arrived, the natives of the Aztec culture showered him with gifts and enticed him with worldly riches, for they thought him to be a white god. Cortes takes advantage of this and tries to drain all he can from the Aztecs. This leads to more European greed, for Cortes then captures Montezuma and tries to rule the Aztec empire himself. This will fail horribly and the Aztecs shall not take this lightly. After many a-massacre Cortes decides to lay a 3 month siege on the of city of Tenochtitlan and with the help of many nearby tribes (enemies of the Aztec) and the smallpox disease, Cortes is able to conquer and establish a settlement in Mexico City.
             The Incan Empire was one of the largest, most mysterious empires in Latin America, it was located in the Andes Mountains. The Incan civilization would be described as being extremely wealthy according to Europeans, in that they possessed mass amounts of gold and silver, but in the eyes of the Inca, they were just resources. Time would pass, but so would rumors; rumors of a city of gold and riches. These rumors would spread worldwide and a Spanish conquistador known as Francisco Pizarro jumps at the chance of finding this so calledcity of riches.
