The Middle Passage

Soon many begin perishing from numerous of causes. When the unkind seas did not provide wind to move the ship, the voyage was just prolonged. The crew made further "sacrifices" to lighten the ship.              To me, this movie was a risky venture in both concept and societal category. "The Middle Passage" aims to condense four hundred years of African extermination into one heartless, inhumane, aberrant slave-trade voyage. This movie might easily have emerged as a very noble but monotonous experiment in history education, pointing up the cold-blooded, inhuman society that was prevalent at the time. Remarkably the movie shows the savage ruthlessness of the times, but doesn't apologize for it. .
