Children & parents

Adolescence is often considered a very beautiful stage in life. Many adolescents are fortunate enough to be able to rely on the fact that their parents or guardians will always be there for them, no matter what. This is of course something good, to be able to depend on family for love and support. However, there are times when this love and support is taken advantage of. For example, many adolescents take it for granted that the minute they do something wrong and get into trouble, "mommy" or "daddy" will run in to help them. Hence by having a law that holds parents responsible for their children's wrong-doings, this may further build up the idea in their heads that they can do whatever they want because it would be guaranteed that their parents would have to pay for it. This in turn will increase the number of adolescents who commit criminal offenses. .
Clearly then, it is not a good idea to hold parents responsible for their children's actions. Doing so would allow children to remain with their old ways of being rude, careless, and continue committing criminal offenses. Children should suffer the consequences of their own actions, and in doing so learn from their mistakes, and perhaps change their ways for the better.
Furthermore, allowing children to remain unpunished, they will be free to roam the streets. This will only increase crime rates and people will be in danger. It is proposed that the law that holds parents accountable for their children's criminal offenses be revoked and be replace with one that places criminal offenders into correctional facilities of people their own age over a period of time. In cases of less severe offenses, the offenders can be forced to serve several hours of community service as appointed by a judge or other authority figure. This will take the criminal offenders off the streets, preventing any harm to others or their belongings, while teaching the offenders to suffer the consequences of their own actions.
