Leviathan

What Hobbes says in the chapter titled "Of the Natural Condition of Mankind as Concerning Their Felicity and Misery" of The Leviathan is that man are equal and none can declare he is superior to others. He continues that, the weakest have means to destroy the stronger ones. That is through secret plotting and uniting with those who are in the same position as his.
Hobbes says that If we disregard science, men are still intellectually equal. They are even more equal than they are physically. We all think that they we are more clever than others. Naturally men think themselves cleverer than others because they can see their own decisions and not the decisions of others. This proves that men are equal and satisfied with there share of intelligence.
Because men are equal they all want the same things and because they all cannot get the same things, they become enemies and try to destroy one another. If a man owns something and others want it, they will unite to take it over from him. Even his life and freedom may be taken as a consequence. Then they are in his previous position and at danger themselves from other enemies. Because of this, their only way is for them to take the upper hand and destroy the weaker ones. They will destroy until no other power will exist to danger their security. This is a fact and generally accepted by all. In some cases however, there are people who go farther than there own security requires and attack others. These people enjoy invading other people. Those who prefer not to invade would not last long because of such invaders. As survival depends on invasion and destruction, we can considered legal.
In company of each other man are again with grief. Because there is no central power to control their actions. They expect others to respect them as much as they value themselves. And if others don't, They use force and harming them. This is done to set an example for others.
