Therefore, affirmative action doesn't make discrimination ok just because it's against whites instead of blacks. When an employer hires anyone because he or she is a minority, instead of being based on one's qualification, it is discrimination. Just because affirmative action is reverse discrimination, when whites are discriminated against and minorities are being discriminated for, doesn't make it right. Imagine what you would feel like if you were equally qualified or maybe even more qualified for a promotion at your work. You"re sure you have the new job not because you are a white male, but that you know you've had more experience in this field and are more qualified for the job. Your boss calls you and tells you that you didn't get the job but that the other person applying, who so happens to be a minority, gets the job instead. By now you"re probably fuming and want to know why you didn't get the job. Your boss says that he needed to put more minorities in the work area you applied for. So in conclusion, you couldn't get a job just because you are a white man and not a minority. Affirmative action is, even at a fundamental level, racist and wrong! Not only does it use race to decide who will get the better job, but it is based on an assumption that minorities cannot be as successful as white students and employees without government intervention. Imagine that two people have finished college, and each wants to go to the same medical school. One is more qualified than the other, but the other is accepted into medical school in order to meet a quota which is necessary in affirmative action. If you didn't know, a quota is a law made by the government that says that an employer must hire a certain amount of Caucasians, African Americans, Hispanics Asians in there business. So anyway, five years down the road, you need to have some surgery done. Which doctor would you rather have, the one who was more qualified or the one who was accepted in order to meet a quota? This is what is happening with affirmative action today, and this needs to stop.
