" I at least hope my writing has come along way from that. Nevertheless, improvement is always a possibility.
Sometimes I think too much when I write. I often detest the perfectionist side of me that demands eloquence and precision at the cost of hours of editing and re-editing. Sometimes, I even edit my e-mails and rewrite sloppy looking words when I write by hand. Right now, especially, I am trying to improve my writing fluency and succinctness, without having to sacrifice hours to achieve that. Then and only then will I be a confident writer. .
I am however confident that some of the works I've written meet my standards of high quality writing, though they like most of writing did take long hours to perfect. They include a wide variety of genres ranging from poetry analysis essays of James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and abstracts on epilepsy research projects to my own Shakespearean (or should I say, Santamarian) sonnets and elegant e-mails to a girlfriend. So evidently, I have written for many purposes, both academic and personal and have been inspired in many such ways. But regardless of the reasons behind any of my work, I believe my writing infallibly lets the audience know who I am and what I think, and I derive pleasure from that. I enjoy being able to express myself artistically through not only music and visual art, but through writing as well. I enjoy having my thoughts transformed into something tangible, possibly as a legacy that will live after me and offer proof that I existed and thought this or that and did this or that. For me, writing is a tool that is both powerful and liberating.

What do you want to learn about writing? What are your goals as a writer? What are your strengths and weaknesses as a writer?.
