John and his friends where the rebels and where always in trouble with school authorities and officials. Not a very good student, he made basically all C's. In 1953, John F. Kennedy graduated from Choate ranking number 64 out of a class of 112 seniors. He wasn't even in the top half of his class.
             He attended Harvard University in 1936 and graduated in 1940. A year after graduating, he joined the U. S. Navy from 1941 - 1945.World War II broke out despite the practice of appeasement, and America entered the war after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Being, the captain of a PT boat in the South Pacific, they where attacked by Japanese destroyers and their boat started to sink. He became a hero to his crew because he saved their lives and took them to a safe location. A year later, his oldest brother Joe, was assassinated while flying a mission over Europe. Despite this great dismay in the family, they managed to lift themselves up and Kennedy was to keep his brothers ambitions and bring about a legacy to the United States. .
             In November of 1946, his dreams as a politician, started to flourish. This year he was elected to the House of Representatives from Massachusetts. During the six year term .
             That he served, the U.S. and the Soviet Union where having the Cold War. The Cold War was the struggle, at the end of World War II, between the Soviet Union and the United States for world supremacy. It reached the highest point of tension in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. During this crisis the world was in great tension because it could have resulted in a nuclear war. Thanks to John F. Kennedy, he was able to resolve differences with Nikita Khrushchev and the crisis ended in a peacefully manner. The Soviet Union ended up removing the nuclear weapons from Cuba.
             In 1953 after the war, he became congressman in Boston and later advanced to Senate. This same year, September 12, 1953, he married Jacqueline Lee Bouiver.
