John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born in Brookline Massachusetts on May 29, 1917. His father was Joseph Patrick Kennedy Sr. and his mother was Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. He was the second oldest out of a family of nine. Joseph was the oldest of the sons and it is said that he was the most preferred son for his father. His other brothers and sisters where, Rosemary, Kathleen, Eunice, Patricia, Robert, and Edward. .
Much of Kennedy's success is owed to his fathers" ambition in politics and fortune. Joseph, his father, was Ambassador to Great Britain from 1937 to 1940 and a millionaire who was a chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. His father was also a graduate from Harvard and had much success in business and politics. The famous Boston saloon owner married Rose Kennedy in 1940. When John Kennedy was born, the United States had just entered World War I, after the war was over, his father started investing on buying and selling movie companies. By 1957, he had a fortune of at least $200 million, saving aside ten million for each son's education.
As he grew up, his parents always encouraged him to reach for the best and to develop their interests. His father was very strict that often he told the sons the compete with each other and demanded high academic achievements. Even though he was traveling most of the time, he contributed in their children's educational lives. He focused mainly on the sons and demanded them to study politics. Dinner was politics. The first schools he attended where in Brookline and Riverdale one which was called the Noble and Greenough Lower School. Later, when he was thirteen years old, he was sent to a Canterbury school, in New Milford Connecticut. In 1931, he enrolled in Choate, a Connecticut boarding school. His father always encouraged him to follow his brother's footsteps because he was a very popular and well-known athlete with good standards.
