They did such a wonderful job educating their children to be a good person in life. I consider my parents to fall under the older generation. They have so much experience through life and technique to build up a strong family.
One of the strongest reasons why I extremely admire the older generation is the value they lived by and taught their children. As my parents were saying " Respect is the most important first step to teach to our children." In everything we do, we must show respect first. For example, in my family, I have to ask everyone older than me to join the table before I pick up my chopsticks. That is one way how I show respect among of my family. Of course I learned that through my parents. In addition, children could have a strong foundation how to be respectful and polite. We should never address the adults by their name because that is not respectful if we do, therefore we should address as "Ma"am and "Sir.".
Yet another reason for my admiration is the love that builds up in the family. The older generation is always there for their family. The love builds up from helping each other out. For example, we build up our love through going picnic together or the whole family watches a movie together. Those things show our love and care to one another. Whenever I need help on my homework, my brother or sisters always there to help me out. This is definitely helping build up our love and care for our family.
The important lesson I learned from the older generation, especially from my parents, is to do whatever to keep the family together as one. For instance, when one of us has a big problem, everyone stays together and helps one other out. For example, when I was about 17 years old, I was in a car accident and damaged my family car. I cried and cried because I was scared that my family would hate me, but my family loves me and helps me get through. To me, my family is the best thing I've ever had.
