Sex Discrimination

"I"m Sorry; you cannot be employed because you"re a woman" "Excuse me! Women are more organized then men!" Sex Discrimination. When thinking of discrimination, one tends to think mostly on sexism directed against women. Sexism has become a noticeable part of our society. However, that is only part of the problem.
Discrimination against men is a problem that is rarely noticed. Such problems include women's criticisms of men's shortcomings as husbands, fathers, lovers and men's confusion over what it means to be a man today.
There are many stereotypes about men and women that are heard everyday. The most common, directed against men is how men are considered as "jerks". Women have become to accept this idea as an excuse or answer to their problems, with the opposite sex. How did society get such a ridiculous idea? Media negatively portray men in their product in order to attract women consumers. Quotes that make men seem the "bad guys" are prominent in greeting cards. "If they can send one man to the moon, why can't they send them all?" In addition, titles of certain books include "No good men" and "Men who cannot love" are common. These are extreme examples of negative stereotypes against men and are a huge part of the problem. Men are unfairly portrayed as monsters and thus, women end up believing all men are heartless and uncaring. .
On the other hand, women have been struggling to be equal to men, both in normal and workplace contexts. Women have come a very long way and are certainly challenged to gain gender equality, and avoid discrimination. Many men believe women are not aggressive enough and strong enough to handle the sometimes high pressure that exists with some positions. Others believe that women are better off taking the traditional gender role and staying home to take care of the family and house-holds chores. However, I strongly believe women have the right to have freedom in their rights and opportunities, regardless of how women are "supposed" to act, must have equal opportunities as men.
