Animal Farm was an excellent book, and I enjoyed reading it. George Orwell expressed his political viewpoint through characters and events in many ways. In the United States we have many privileges that people in other countries don't have because of a dictator or a tyrant, such as being able to say, believe and print whatever you want. Having so many freedoms may seem very normal here, but in other countries where the people have no power or say, it could be the best thing ever. This is basically what the book Animal Farm is about, except that the characters are replaced by animals. .
Orwell wrote the book Animal Farm to put his thoughts about the Russian Revolution on paper, but with different characters and situations. For example, the sheep represented the blind followers, and the dogs represented the secret police. The dictator was obviously Napoleon, and the scapegoat was Snowball. Orwell's writing style was good, and gave hint by hint, and in the end, everything fit together perfectly. For example, the pigs changing the commandments a little to fit their lifestyle better, and the pigs taking advantage of the animals" stubbornness and little by little took over the farm. This is probably what happened in the Russian Revolution, and over a period of time, the people who were too blind to see what was going on got taken over. .
Orwell used irony in his books a lot, and it worked perfectly. In the beginning the pigs were the one who developed the idea of rebellion and to never be like humans and hate them. In the end, it is so ironic that the pigs take over the farm, and turn into humans. They act like them, dress like them, walk on two legs like them, carry whips like them, rule the farm like them, and even drink alcohol like them. It just went to show that the animals worked so hard to obtain freedom from Mr. Jones and in the end, they were worse off than when they began. .
I agree with Orwell's viewpoint that dictatorships are bad and that power corrupts.
