The Louvre is the most famous Museum in Paris, France. You may know it or heard of it because it is home to the "Mona Lisa-, also known as "The Joconde- and the Greek statue known as the " Venus de Milo."" The Louvre used to be the former palace of the kings back then. A newest edition to the Louvre is the huge glass pyramid designed by I. M. Pei is now the entrance. The louvre was created in 1981, well the museum. The structure its self I was older around the 12th century. Many kings have lived in that Palace, and now it is a museum. It represents man centuries of art that's had been saved and it is all together to make one master piece collection. The Pyramid, it was a controversial structure, many people didn't like it because it was way to modern for the surrounding buildings, they said it just didn't go with anything else. On the other hand there were some people who thought that it looked good and it was just another style and piece of art added the collection. Well whatever the opinions were it stayed anyways. Later president Franzois Mitterrand took 5.000 civil workers from the north wing of the louvre to Bercy, which freed many space to further exhibition area. Now called the Richelieu Wing, hold French sculpture around two roofed courtyards. The first floor is dedicated to Objects d'art, and the second floor is dedicated to Dutch paintings. The basic shape of the louvre is like a "U- shape with a pyramid in the middle. Facing the Louvre the Richelieu is on the left hand side, the Denon section is on the right hand side, at the end is the sully, and last in the middle the entrance which is the pyramid. The louvre has many departments, such as, Oriental section, Egyptian section, Greek, Etruscan, and roman section, Objets d'art sec., Sculpture sec., Paintings section, and last the prints and drawings section.
