Adolf Hitler, a charismatic, rose to power in Germany during 1920s and early 1930s. Once in power, he eliminated all opposition and launched a program of elimination of the Jews. Later Hitler was a defeated man and decided to take his life. (www.remember.org).
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 in Braunau Am Inn, Austria. He was the fourth child of Alois Schickelgruber and Klara Hitler. (www.toy-soldier-gallery.com) Two of his siblings died from diphtheria when they were children, and one died shortly after birth. Adolf's father regularly beat him during his childhood. He had a painful childhood. Adolf's father died in 1903 after suffering a pleural hemorrhage. (www.remember.org) Adolf left school in 1905, at the age of sixteen. He left school because of ill health and the result of poor school work. (William W. Lace) Adolf's mother developed terminal breast cancer. Her doctor was Dr. Edward Bloch, a Jewish doctor who served the poor. Adolf's mother died on December 21, 1907. Penniless Adolf Hitler wandered Vienna, sleeping in bars, flophouses, and shelters for the homeless, by the Jewish philanthropists. (www.remember.org) In 1929 Hitler had met Eva Braun. At the age of seventeen, Eva was working as the assistant of Hitler's personal photographer. Eva and Hitler were together for awhile and were never married. During the war they would write letters to each other making sure they were always in touch. In April 1945 Hitler and Eva were finally married. (www.shoalh.dk/Braun).
In May 1913, Adolf tired to avoid military service. Hitler left Vienna for Munich. In January, the police came to his door bearing a draft notice from the Austrian government. The document threatened a year in prison and a fine if he was found guilty of leaving his native land. Hitler was arrested on the spot and taken to the Austrian Consulate. Upon reporting to the Austrian Consulate, reporting for duty in Salzburg, he was found "unfit too weak and unable to bear arms.
