The concert that I will be writing about is based on a student recital performed by the music students of Broward Community College. Many of these students have had many years of training and this training shows throughout the concert with wonderful talents withing each individual.
The first couple performers performed in the piano, each with a delightful choice of music. The first student to perform was Ashley Huizenga, who chose Nocturne in C# Minor, KK Iva, No. 16 by Frederic Francois Chopin. I found her presence very appealing, and the piece she chose was very delightful. I thought she played well, and the piece choice was very entertaining.
Another pianists who played was Manuel Acosta who chose a Beethoven piece was also very good. The third piano performance was a duet with the schools accompanist, which I thought was very interesting.
The next group of artists were vocalists, which I enjoyed the most because I am a singer myself. Four of which were Soprano's and one of which was Mezzo-Soprano. Although all of these vocalists were of the same vocal section, each had their own uniqueness to their voices. For instance, one of the performers, Michele Brache, put on an excellent performance. Her diction, pronunciation, poise and tone were all remarkable. Her song, Die Krahe(from Winterreise), was in German, which is a very tough language to learn, but she sang it with all confidence.
Some of the other performances at the recital was a violinist, trumpeter, and guitarists. All chose very good pieces, although I think the violin performance at the end wasn't satisfying to the audience, because of the seven movements. I think the audience was growing tired. I believe a different selection piece would've been more appropriate this environment, seeing as if most of the audience were not there for pure amusement.
Overall, I think the recital was very entertaining, and everyone did their very best and put their very best effort.
