To kill a mockingbird

Being born to, two separate families two young girls emerge. Should they grow to be the same since they were raised in the same town? No, not at all because people are given the same opportunity but, experience different results. This is so for Scout Finch and Mayella Ewell.
Maycomb, Alabama is where Mayella and Scout where born. On the outskirts of the city dump next to the cabins of the "colored folks" lived the Ewell family. The place that Mayella called home was a broken down shack. The yard was full of junk and unnecessary items, it looked as though a cyclone had ripped through the dump and just decided to stop in the Ewell's yard. The door entering the varmint-infested domain was torturous. The rusted hinges on the door were grasping on for dear life. Here in this home Mayella at the tender age of 19 had to take on the responsibilities of a full-grown woman. In addition she had to deal with an abusive father. She was always working to clean or organize her surroundings. Even though she lived in such horrendous home she was always trying to make her home a better place to live in. Mayella was a growing woman and she needed direction. She was growing emotionally and she did not know how to deal.
with them. One strong emotion she had was a wanting to be loved by another man. Tom Robinson just happened to be there and he was the only person giving her the attention that she thought she wanted. If Bob Ewell had been there to help Mayella Tom wouldn't have been killed. But since he wasn't there for her she had no way of understanding the extent of her actions. Bob didn't make it any easier by being abusive.
Unlike Scout who had many people involved in her life she was able to learn from her mistakes. Calpurnia who was her mother figure, Jem her brother who was there for her when she needed him, and Atticus her father (who she found to be "satisfactory") who taught her how to express her emotions.
