Sympathy For the Devil

The turn around, after a long struggle, had begun due to the fact that minorities decided that they were not going to take being oppressed anymore. Rosa Parks deciding that she was not going to sit in the back of the bus and Martin Luther King Jr. leading the Civil Rights movement in search of a color blind nation, are just a few of many events that were key in the reduction of racism(Washington 2).
Although, racism has now taken a complete 180 degree turn to whom it is directed towards. Caucasians are now the pin cushion of racism from minorities. I cannot imagine what would happen if I were to start a television channel entitled W.E.T., (White Entertainment Television) with the host being Caucasian of course, saying "welcome to W.E.T., the channel specifically made for white people." The Reaction from minorities would be huge. I would be cast as a bigot or a racist if I had a television channel like W.E.T., but who's to say that their response is wrong? I personally feel that the idea of W.E.T. and the actual B.E.T. channels are very rude and disrespectful, but that doesn't mean that the ideas are wrong. Not only is making a television channel the right of any citizen, but Caucasians have excluded minorities for a very long time, so the minorities are now the excluders.
Another topic dealing with reverse racism and affirmative action is how colleges now are accepting minorities into their universities because of just that, they are minorities. Linda Chavez, the head of the Center for Equal Opportunity, conducted a study on universities accepting African Americans instead of not only Caucasians but all other minorities, accepting African Americans not for their intellectual excellence or merit but the color of their skin. The study concluded that African Americans with above average scores on law school admissions test were 730 times more likely to be accepted than an equally qualified Caucasian student at Virginias School of Law (Washington 3).
